D.I.Y. Take Out: Spicy Crispy Beef
You can make this yourself in less time than it would take to have it delivered. Plus, less fat, less sodium, less sugar and no weird additives.
1 5-8 oz. lean steak (sirloin, flank)
2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons canola oil, divided
brown rice to serve
chopped cilantro or green onion for garnish
1. Combine the soy sauce, honey, chili garlic sauce and 2 tsp canola oil in a bowl. Set aside.
2. Trim off the excess fat from the steak and cut into thin slices. (Tip: Place it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes before slicing.)
3. Heat 1 tablespoon of the canola oil in a large, non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add the strips of beef and cook for about 30 seconds per side. Add the prepared sauce to the pan, stir, then serve over the rice. Garnish with chopped cilantro or scallions.
