It all started about seven years ago when I was preparing for my wedding. I wanted to lose about 15 pounds to look fabulous in my wedding dress so I started on Weight Watchers. I followed the diet perfectly but I ate very little "whole" foods; I lived off of diet sodas and 100 calorie packs. I lost the weight I wanted but as soon as the wedding day was over... I gained it all back, plus another 10 pounds in the years following my wedding. OOOPS!
In 2009, I delivered a beautiful 8 lb. 3 oz. baby girl. I was overjoyed but was left with a body that I did not recognize. I went through a lot of frustration and embarrassment. I started back on Weight Watchers and after about a year and a half, I lost all of my baby weight plus an extra 20 lbs.
2013 is when everything changed for me. I was always tired, lacked energy and lived for my coffee and Diet Coke. I had read a lot about "clean eating" and thought I would give it a try to see if it would help me lose those last few pounds and improve my energy level. I also committed to working out six days a week. Working out was also completely new to me. I starting putting REAL food in my body and it made a HUGE difference. I felt GOOD! I had energy and I didn't rely on caffeine to get me through the day. I gave up artificial sweeteners and packaged foods. I starting cooking healthy, simple recipes and I can honestly say... I AM NEVER GOING BACK! This is not a short-lived "diet" that I am on. This is my life. This is about me caring about what I put in my body. This is about fueling my body not poisoning it. I was so skeptical but I am convinced that this way of eating is doable for anyone and everyone.
This healthy lifestyle is now my passion. I love it. I study it. I live it! No, I am not perfect at it. Being too strict about anything will lead to failure. I allow myself a few "splurge" meals a week and I enjoy every bite!
I started my Whole Foods New Body few months ago to help others follow a healthier lifestyle. I don't have a lot of time so I make simple but delicious recipes. I love to share my meal plans, recipes, workouts and tips on "clean eating." I feel like if I, the most non-athletic/diet coke addicted girl, could change my lifestyle than anyone can.
I love sharing my story! Check out my blog and be sure to leave me a comment. I love hearing from you!
