Luisana Suegart shares her fast, fresh and accessible recipes – all with an elegant twist. Luisana is the first to admit she isn’t a formally trained chef. Fed up with feeling sluggish from eating the wrong foods and not making time to exercise, she made the decision to pursue a healthier lifestyle, and ultimately discovered her passion for cooking along the way. She was ecstatic to learn that healthy never has to be boring.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Luisana grew up in Miami, where the melting pot of cultures influences her recipes. A dynamic media professional, she worked in many mediums, from television to print magazines to the web. With a degree in communications from Florida International University, she worked briefly as a producer, writer and news anchor for a website dedicated to financial news. As an editor to several local magazines, she has interviewed some of South Florida’s most fascinating personalities and has been a staple in the local social scene, while coordinating and covering local events. She transitioned from the world of journalism to public relations, working as the director of publicity for one of the country’s fastest growing marketing agencies.
Not even the longest workday could keep Luisana away from the kitchen; on the contrary, it was her best release, and if she could invite friends and family over to share her home cooked meals with, even better. Wanting to spread the love beyond her kitchen, Luisana developed a cooking blog, The Fit Cook, where she documented and photographed more than 100 recipes in a matter of months. From fancy 10-minute dinners to quick-fix lunches, she quickly intrigued followers with her simple approach to cooking, always yielding meals that are a feast for the eyes and a party for the palate. In 2011, Luisana became a spokesperson for IMUSA USA, the #1 Hispanic housewares brand in the country.
A city girl at heart, Luisana lives in the heart of Downtown Miami, where she takes full of advantage of everything the Magic City has to offer – from the beautiful beaches to the dynamic cuisine, sports games, the exciting nightlife, and any adventure-inducing activity that comes up.
