Today I was declared the winner of Chispa Marketing's "Sweet Chispa Challenge!"

The Challenge - post a dessert recipe on Chispa Marketing's Facebook page; the three contestants to gather the most likes over the course of a week would prepare their dessert for the Chispa Marketing team; he or she with the best dessert (the criteria being creativity, presentation and taste) would take home tickets to the South Beach Food and Wine Fest Grand Tasting Village. (You may recall the 2011 event was one of the best days of my life - click here to read about it.)

Well, this girl WON, and is on her way to mingle with her Food Network faves again on February 25th - an obscene amount of pictures will follow.

Back to the challenge. Want to know a secret? I knew I would win all along. Why? Because I really wanted this. Not to suggest that my fellow chispa-testants didn't, but I put my heart and soul into promoting my recipe, and because I was so passionate (and annoyingly persistent), I gained the support of family, friends, and friends of friends, who helped me end in the top three (and in first place with the most "likes," if you want me to be specific).

Want to know something else? I made this dessert for a contest by Bravo over a year ago. That's when I put my heart and soul into developing the recipe, because I really wanted to win that one, too. The grand prize was a dream kitchen makeover. I uploaded the recipe and hit "Submit," never to hear a peep back. In fact, I don't even remember getting a confirmation email to let me know that my entry was received. I wonder if it even went through...? In any case, I never felt like I wasted my time by developing that recipe. I guess it felt a little awkwaaaard to post a calorie-bomb of such caliber on a blog that promotes healthy eating, but more so, I felt accomplished to have gone on a whim to ultimately take dessert to "a whole other level." (Chispa's words, not mine!)

As the story goes, today, I took the cake - pun intended!

Whatever the case, give it your best today. It may not pay off today, tomorrow, in a week, a month or a year. But over time, your "I-gave-it-my-best" todays go adding up into things that are great.

I had been meaning to update Table Talk for months, and I couldn't think of a better reason to start today. Thanks to all for your support. And because a promise is a promise, minis are available upon request.
