Holy Prosciutto! Panino
This sandwich is crazy good, and perfect for entertaining. I made these the day I got my Maggie. Paired with mimosas, it was the perfect ladies lunch. And, it's not as sinful as it tastes! *Italian lesson inside.
Ready in: 10 minutes
You'll Need:
2 slices whole wheat bread
1 tablespoon fig butter*
1 ounce brie cheese, thinly sliced
2-3 slices lean prosciutto
fresh basil
Here's How:
1. Pre-heat your panini press to medium-high. If you don't have a panini maker, heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.
2. Assemble the panini by spreading the fig butter on both slices of bread. Add the brie, prosciutto, and basil to taste. Place the sandwich in the panini press and toast until the bread is crusty and the brie has melted. Slice on the diagonal and serve.
Fun Fact: A new Italian friend informed me that panini is plural. 1 = panino, 2+ = panini. Buon appetito!
and this is my Maggie...my sous chef!
