I'm proud to admit that the egg pictured in this post is my first poached egg, ever! Turns out, it's not as hard as some may think. Once you get the poaching part down, you can put the egg over anything -- toast, an English muffin, steamed asparagus -- you name it! Just go for it!
Ready in : 5-8 minutes
You'll Need:
1 egg
Here's How:
1. Add 2-3 inches of water to a saucepan, and heat over medium high. Gently crack the egg into a measuring cup to make it easier to pour it in the water.
2. When the water begins to simmer and small bubbles begin to come to the surface, carefully pour the egg into the water. Use a large, slotted spoon to gently swirl the water around the egg to help keep the white together. When the egg sets, carefully remove it from the water, shaking the spoon lightly to drain off the excess water. Serve as desired, and season with salt and pepper.
